PlaySuite 0.5 Black and White by Ghost-Rid3r PlaySuite 0.5 Black and White by Ghost-Rid3r
Info:
My first skin for Rainmeter...
Based on the Playstation look I present you a sleek skin for you desktop. I do not own any console but when i first saw the PSP (years ago) I got amazed by it's sweet and animated desktop. Now, in 2010, I'm trying to bring some of it's sweetness to my PC desktop!

Features:
-Icon Variants:
--Black
--White
-Control Panel
-Pictures Folder
-Music Folder
-Video Folder
-Games Folder (Game Explorer - Vista & Windows 7 only)
-Web Browser (By default is Firefox)
-Winamp Music Status (also works with foobar - install foo winamp spam)
-Startup sound (Gives you the classic Playstation 3 boot sound when choosing theme / launching rainmeter)

>>Everything is draggable.
>>Almost all resolutions supported - but you may need to edit the positions.

What's not done yet:
-Clock

FAQ:
Q: How to drag the icons/Winamp Status?
A: Just click on the icon (holding) and drag it anywhere.

Q: Some (or all) icons aren't working, how can I fix?
A: Ok, you're probably using Vista or any older Windows. You need to right click on the icon and choose Edit Skin, then go for the latest line: LeftMouseUpAction=!execute ["???????"] where ??????? means the location of the folder/program, edit it to match your system, for e.g. opera.exe

Q: Why there are no more FAQs?
A: Because I don't have a lot of time! :D

You can suggest anything to improve this skin!
Also any help is appreciated :)

Thanks to everyone who added this to their favourites, those who requested more features, well, everyone! I really didn't expected that my skin would have so many views and downloads! :)

PlaySuite 0.6 is coming later with Clock - no date defined.

Wanna say something? Comment! :)

There's something wrong with your skin installation.
Try reinstalling it again.
If you cant right click on anything, try using Ctrl + Right Click

Well I've tried right click again and clicked on playsuite/web then went to the configuration settings and changed it from firefox to googlechrome.exe but nothing happens when I click on it.

As far as i know it should be "chrome.exe" and not "googlechrome.exe"

Ohh, that could be the problem. Oh and do know how to get the pictures icon to go to my pictures and the brief case go to my folders?

Brief case shows the control panel by the default, but just edit the path (basically the same procedure as you did with Google Chrome, but put your path to the folder ( something similar to "C:\User\Jamilb\Pictures\").
You're using XP, right? (Because this skin should work with no problems in Windows 7)

How do I make the icons work?

:iconstunnah83:

Awesome work. Thanks a lot. :boogie:

Change the W=155/h=155 in the desired *.ini to your value, eg. W=55/h=55.
Standard location C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\PlaySuite.
Refresh the skin(s) and you should see the changes, also you can halfsize in
a photo editor the size of the line(s) to have them matching with the icons.

Look (all half of the original size): [link]

Greetings

Yea, when I made this skin it was 155 because my monitor resolution was smaller (1280x1024), now on a 1920x1080 monitor the icons look rather small for many people, including myself. But because this skin is "abandonated" I didn't updated it. Maybe in the future I will try to make more complex skins rather than simple icons.

awesome! got it working now! you need to make a rainmeter button. that way you dont have to try really hard to right click right on a line, or if like mine, my clock is set to where you cant click it (so i dont accidentally move it.) i looked all over for one, but the only one i could find is a button that just shuts down rainmeter, which i think is dumb

Nice, been thinking about doing something like this for a while, looks like i don't have too :P

What universal folders did you use if the only work on win 7 and not vista, as far as i know the standard default folder paths are the same in both vista and win 7, not able to download and check you code right now :P

Oh and a tip about the third answer in your FAQ, make it just say firefox.exe by default and people won't need to edit as long as the use firefox at least, windows knows where firefox.exe is, at least if it's set as the default browser but i think it works even if not

Actually, is it possible to create side-scrolling icons just like in the PSP's XMB? Not all of them, just useful ones that would serve a purpose for a PC.
Know what I'm sayin'?

Well the scrolling action itself may not be possible for Icons in Rainmeter, but maybe just making slightly smaller Icons above and below the current ones would be the next best thing. I know how to do it for sure, but lack the resources (icon files) to do it. I'd search for them but I wanna see what you can do first.

Great Job in doing this skin dude o.o, but its not original... in fact it has been done before like exact same thing. But i dont think you meant to and the other one either wasnt released or has been buried under so many other projects its not likely to resurface or sumthing. Anywho he never got it up and running o.o. Wow just goes to show how long i've been doing Rainmeter *sigh* i feel old. Haha im curious as to your coding tho, to see how you did it. Ill check it out later and give suggestions for improvement? (if thats not too rude of me that is... i always like to help, but can be a tad blunt at times hehe). Great job tho :D

I love this skin and am currently using it. My current suggestions would be:
Lock the Icons in place side by side. It's a bit tedious to have to move each icon individually and ruin the perfect alignment that you had them start out with.
Another idea; why Winamp media player? I much prefer Windows Media Player to Winamp. Do you think you'll be able to implement WMP too? Either way it's fine, I can never seem to get those Rainmeter Media Players to work lol.

:iconghost-rid3r:
Ghost-Rid3r Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2010
If someone teaches me how to lock them I'd for sure do it!

Winamp as media player because most people who have Rainmeter are using it ( i believe ). I can't do for WMP but if someone wants to do it then they're free to do. As long as they do not claim that the work was 100% by them (and you can see in the description that the player is not 100% by me too...)

I think what you could do is join the icons into 1 .ini file and manipulate them to be side by side with the "R" (or r) command. Not sure which one was for which and don't feel like searching for the answer right now lol. I mean I could take a whack at this and send it to you if you'd like.

joining them in one ini file would "break" the fade effect on each icon - it would just fade everything. :S

The resources are on the description, but here's the link if you're too lazy :P

Idk how you or everyone else is using this skin, but I am making sure each icon has the same fade effect and opacity so as to keep it uniform, like the PSP's XMB itself. So I personally do not see a problem with joining the icons in one file lol.
Unless I'm misunderstanding something?

Ah so they are, the icons are right there lol, thanks. I'll see what I can do too.
